Mamata’s phobia for anything related to Hinduism is becoming more and more evident. She tries to defend her hatred to people chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’, by using the ruse that she is not against Lord Ram but against Hindutva. She claims she is against chanting Jai Shri Ram but supportive of Jai Siya Ram. But this article will prove that she plainly nurses anti-Hindu sentiments personally or is going overboard to stamp out anything and everything remotely Hindu in Bengal in order to appease Islamists and Muslim vote banks.

Mamata in her bid to run a ‘secular’ aka anti-Hindu administration, has marauded the Bengali language itself which has words derived from Hindu Gods and Goddesses. Mamata’s aversion for Lord Ram is so much, that her administration has invented a new Bengali word for rainbow in Bengali.

The traditional name for rainbow in Bengali is ‘Ramdhenu’ or Lord Ram’s bow.
Mamata’s hatred for Lord Ram has made the West Bengal Council for Higher Education in 2017 to replace the word ‘Ramdhonu” to “Rongdhonu” or bow of colours. All this was done to ostensibly appear secular.

Interestingly, Bangladesh, a Muslim country, has long replaced the word ‘Ramdhenu’ with ‘Rongdhenu’, so West Bengal under Mamata Banerjee’s Chief Ministership has simply aped the Islamic nation.

This move by Mamata’s government caused an outcry among the academia and netizens. Many of her critics even called it ‘language terror’ and others simply point out the fact that this move is in complete tandem with her appeasement policies.

While Bengali language experts informed the media that ‘Rongdhonu’ is a completely new word and is not found in Bengali dictionary or grammar. The New Indian Express reported that linguist Rakesh Banerjee informed, “There is no word in  Bengali dictionary as ‘rongdhonu’. It’s Ramdhonu. A correct word should not be replaced with a wrong one in our textbooks as our future will learn wrong or a distorted word due to political fancies. This is nothing but language terror”.

Notably, in the Class VII ‘Environment and Science’ book’s ‘Barnali’ chapter, one of the colours of ‘Rongdhonu’ is called ‘Aasmani’, an Urdu word for sky blue that is used in Muslim-majority Bangladesh instead of the ‘Akaashi’ used in West Bengal.

Another linguist expert, Sadhan Das said that, “There are linguistic differences between the Muslims and Hindus of Bengal. In an attempt to standardise the language, lot of words have already been compromised and local dialects killed. Now, I don’t
feel there is any further need to import Bangladeshi words in Indian curricula.”

It is pertinent to note that after partition and formation Pakistan, the Pakistani government under a committee headed by Md Sahidullah recommended changing several words with Hindu origin in Bengali language of East Pakistan (present-day Bangladesh) with that of Islamised Persian / Farsi words.

Mamata Banerjee, in her recent election speeches is seen challenging Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and Yogi Adityanath to speak in Bengali, while she herself has murdered the beautiful language which owes its allegiance to Devbhasha, Sanskrit.

Mamata now afraid of a loss in the Nandigram seat, from where she is contesting, is going around doing Chandi Path, while she abused the very language of her and all other people’s ancestor’s of Bengal to suit her Islamic tastes. At this rate her aim seems to be convert West Bengal to Greater Bangladesh.
