Ever since the construction of the Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir has been in the news, we have also heard that Prabhu Sri Ram is Imam-e-Hind. This probably has been told by the Muslim of Bharatiya origin but we have many Hindus also propagating this statement. If one were to look at the entire life of Sri Ram, one cannot help but state that this statement has to be completely wrong.
Ravana, the Asura king whom Sri Ram killed was an arrogant person who did not like worshiping any God except for getting favours from Them. He refused to worship Ganapati first and also had imprisoned all the Nava Grahas and wanted them to only shower him with good fortune. In fact he had Shani Maharaj bound hand and foot and put face down on the step which led to his throne. It took a Hanuman to set free all the Nava Grahas. Hanuman was Sri Rama’s param-bhakt and he knew that Sri Rama would never tolerate such a pitiable state of the Nava Grahas. Sri Rama believed in worshiping all the Gods and has worshiped Shakti, Surya, Shiva and Gurus and Rishis.
In His earlier Avatars also, Sri Rama has always punished those who enforced belief in only one God. As Vaman Avatar, Maha Vishnu pushed Bali Raja to Sutala (the underworld) because Raja Bali had become arrogant and had insisted that only Maha Vishnu should be worshiped. He had forbidden worship of all other Gods. Similarly, as Narasimha too, He punished HiranyaKashipu for enforcing that all his subjects should worship only him and no other form of God.
Islam and Christianity claim that only their God is the true God and that everyone should worship Him. How then can Christians lay claim to our Gods by saying that Christ is same as Krishna? And in the same fashion how can Muslims say that Sri Ram is Imam-e-Hind? If this sentence were true, actually Sri Ram would never allow for that which is blared from the rooftops of Mosques and Masjids at all. Jai Sri Ram.
