In the history of Indian Railways, the department has fired 19 of its officers, taking the biggest ever action against its officers. According to the information, the Modi Government at the Center took major action against the poor performing and incompetent officers under the Periodic Review of Government Servants under Section 56(J)/(I) of the Central Civil Services (CCS) Pension Rules, 1972. On Wednesday, the department has dismissed 19 officers under Rule 48.

Let us tell you that out of the 19 officers who have been fired in this historic action, 10 Joint Secretary level officers are being told. All these officers were posted on various posts in Western Railway, MCF, Central Railway, CLW, North Front Railway, Eastern Railway, South Western Railway, DLW, North Central Railway, RDSO, Selection Great of ED Cell and Northern Railway.

The special thing is that since Ashwini Vaishnav took over as the Union Railway Minister, about 77 officers have taken VRS so far. According to sources, 96 officers have been given VRS in the last 11 months.

In fact, with such action, there is a clear message from the ministry and the central government that negligence will not be tolerated during the work and under these rules, the government can review the work and give VRS forcibly. Let us inform that Railway Minister Vaishnav had warned railway officials in Khajuraho last month that any officers who cannot work, they should sit at home with VRS, otherwise they will be sacked. He had said this when some railway officials could not answer their questions on suggestions received from Sidhi district MP Riti Pathak regarding the delay in Lalitpur-Singrauli railway project.
