C-Span’s livestream coverage of opening night of the 2020 Republican National Convention on Monday atrracted roughly six times more viewers than the first night of the Democratic National Convention last week.

Around 440,000 people tuned in to watch the first night of the GOP convention on C-Span, compared to only 76,000 views for opening night of the DNC.

Viewership of this year’s DNC was down as much as 42% across CBS, NBC, and ABC compared to 2016, when Hillary Clinton was elected as the party’s presidential nominee.

While most of the networks averaged 18.7 million viewers, this was still a 28% drop from the opening night of the 2016 DNC.
