Lowest use of contraceptive measures among Muslims: NFHS-5

According to the recently released NFHS-5 (National Family Health Survey), the national average of use of contraceptives among women aged 15-49 in the country is 66.7 percent. But among the country’s Muslims, this average is 60.3 percent, which is the lowest on the basis of community. Not only this, this figure is also less than other minority communities of the country.

CM Yogi had expressed concern about population

It is worth noting that on the occasion of World Population Day in Lucknow, CM Yogi said, ‘When we talk about family planning / population stabilization, we have to keep in mind that the population control program should go ahead successfully, but the situation of demographic imbalance should not be created. Let it happen. “It should not happen that the pace of population growth or the percentage of any community is high and we are working through awareness or enforcement to stabilize the population of ‘natives’,” he said. He said that it also has an adverse effect on religious demography and chaos and disorder starts there.

Owaisi retaliated

AIMIM chief Owaisi hit back at CM Yogi’s statement, saying, ‘His own health minister said that there is no need for any law in the country for population control. Most of the contraception is being used by Muslims. The total fertility rate was 2.6 in 2016 which is now 2.3. The demographic dividend of the country is the best among all the countries.
