The Delhi police detained a man named Firoz Khan on Wednesday, 27th July for killing his companion over an extra piece of roti. Munna, a 40-year-old rickshaw puller from Madhya Pradesh, has been identified as the victim. Firoz, a rag picker, had gone out to dinner with his “friend” Munna on Tuesday night, 26th July at a roadside Dhaba in the Karol Bagh neighbourhood of Delhi. Lakhan, an eyewitness, reported that the accused had asked Munna for an extra roti and curry. The latter quickly acceded to his request. Firoz requested another roti, but the victim declined his request. This sparked a violent dispute, and Firoz then started punching Munna. The rag collector then used a knife to stab his “buddy” three to four times in the stomach before fleeing the scene. As soon as they were made aware of the situation, the police arrived on the scene and hurried the victim to the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. On arrival, Munna, who was 40 years old, was pronounced dead. According to the doctors, the death was brought on by excessive bleeding as a result of the stabbing.

While speaking about the matter, DCP Shweta Chauhan informed, “On July 26 late night, the Karol Bagh police station received a call that a person was lying unconscious.ASI Nitaj Tyagi was then sent to the crime spot and the victim was taken to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. The doctors attending to Munna declared him brought dead,” she added.

After reviewing the CCTV footage, the police assembled a team to find Firoz. The suspect, 26-year-old Firoz Khan alias Munnu, was captured in a park in Karol Bagh after a 6-hour manhunt. After murdering Munna, he was seen dozing off in a park.

While the victim was a native of the Madhya Pradesh village of Ratiya Pura, Firoz is from the Uttar Pradesh district of Agra.
