Special interaction organised by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti
‘Dark History of Partition of India!’

Hindus and Sikhs were killed during the partition of India. Hindu and Sikh women, girls were brutally persecuted, which cannot be described in words. Self-styled intellectuals and historians have so far lied that violence took place on both sides. This is an injustice to the dead Hindu and also a mistake in history.  The scholar of history and culture and writer Advocate Satish Deshpande appealed that Hindus should learn the true history of the time of partition and do introspection. He was speaking in an ‘online’ special interaction on ‘Dark History of Partition of India’ organised by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti on the occasion of Amrut Mahotsav of Independence.

Advocate Deshpande further said, ‘Muslim League’s declaration of ‘Direct Action Day’ led to partition by inciting riots, oppressing Hindus and usurping their land. In the province of West Bengal and then East Bengal (now Bangladesh), the Hindu resistance led by Gopal Patha prevented riots by the Muslim League at that time; but today’s generation does not know who Gopal Patha was because the true history of atrocities faced by Hindus and sacrifices of Hindus during the partition of India have not been told so far. Brutal killings of Hindus, inhuman persecution of women took place in Lahore and Rawalpindi, which are now in Pakistan. Dead bodies of Hindus were sent in trains to Amritsar and other places in the country as ‘Azadi ka tohfa’ (Gift of freedom’)’.

‘Swatantryaveer Savarkar had warned in his speech in 1942 that the country would be partitioned, but a misleading campaign is still being made that Savarkar is responsible for the partition of the country. The fact that Muslim leaders including Mohammad Ali Jinnah brought about partition is not being clearly stated’, Advocate Deshpande concluded.
