During the protest these students also raised provocative slogans. Safoora Zargar is an accused in the February 2020 riots in the national capital and is currently out on bail. She was granted bail by the court on humanitarian grounds as she was pregnant.

The students of Jamia also raised provocative slogans like ‘RSS ki grave khudgi, Jamia ki dharti par’ and ‘ABVP ki grave khudgi, Jamia ki dharti par’ during the protest. Safoora Zargar had not completed her thesis and no progress was visible in it, after which Jamia canceled her admission. She had not submitted his M.Phil thesis despite having 5 semesters. Now the students have come out with poster-banners to raise slogans and protest in their support.

Safoora Zargar had taken admission in the Department of Sociology. Jamia had said that their project supervisor did not find their report satisfactory. Also, he did not apply for an extension. Due to Corona, shewas also given an additional sixth semester, which has ended on February 6, 2022. Safoora Zargar, who was booked under UAPA, was arrested in April 2020 following the anti-CAA riots.

Safoora Zargar herself is also making an issue of this decision of Jamia Millia Islamia through social media. Earlier he had claimed that she was being run for an extension. He had also accused the professors of cheating and dishonesty, accusing him of taking away his ‘right to education’. She has also got 150 alleged activists to write letters to Jamia in his support. Now provocative slogans are being raised in support of her support in the campus.
