PFI, which was trying to spread bigotry in the country, thrived on money coming from abroad. Investigations by Indian intelligence agencies and NIA have revealed that the National Intelligence Organization, the state intelligence agency of Turkiye (Turkey), was funding the PFI and their karkoons with the help of Pakistani intelligence agency ISI. Evidence has also been found of its use in terror funding.
UP STF and NIA got information about this game only during Hathras incident and anti-CAA movement. After the arrest of many PFI leaders in these cases, the evidence of this was found in their interrogation. But it took more than a year to add its links. Funding investigation revealed that funds were sent to Indian bank accounts through Oman. Based on the clues received from the banks, the basis of the raid was found through money trail.
In the investigation of the case related to terrorist funding, strong evidence found by intelligence agencies,
it has been revealed that bank accounts of laborers working in Gulf countries are used to send money to the country. These laborers used to send money to their relatives in India. In return they were paid a hefty commission through hawala. In India, the people of Turkey’s intelligence agency used to get this money out of the account and send it to the PFI.
On the other hand, ED officials said that during the investigation, suspicious transactions of about 100 crores were detected in the bank accounts of PFI . It was also learned that money was being sent to PFI through hawala also. Along with this, transactions have also taken place through some fake companies.
For promoting Islamic activities in the country, information was also received about direct transfer of money to the account of some accused associated with PFI. After investigation, the ED has also filed a charge sheet against five members of the PFI in the Special PMLA Court in Lucknow.
