Rahul Gandhi, the scion of the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty, is known for his goof-ups that generate unending comedy. The silly statements he makes frequently boomerang on him and end up causing great damage to his party. Many people even opine that he is a star campaigner for the BJP.

The news reports say that the former president of the United States, Mr. Barack Obama, in his memoir, A Promised Land, wrote about many political leaders from across the world, including Mr. Gandhi.

According to the New York Times (NYT) book review, the former President wrote that the Congress leader has “a nervous, unformed quality about him, as if he were a student who’d done the coursework and was eager to impress the teacher but deep down lacked either the aptitude or the passion to master the subject.”

Such comments are not new. In fact, there are many observers who are vocal about his political incompetence. It is a well-known fact that he and his sister, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, are not serious players in the political arena. They don’t have a clear agenda and are only driven by greed for power.

The Congress leaders, who slipped into a profound sense of hopelessness after witnessing the seemingly unending electoral reverses, are not able to muster enough confidence to lead the party. In the absence of any alternative, they are banking on Rahul and Priyanka to bring the party back to life.

Rahul and Priyanka are only a liability to the Congress party, and it is not possible to revive the party as long as they are at its helm. The new, aspirational India is no longer in a position to tolerate dynasty politics, and they want leaders from the grassroots level who can create opportunities for them. The Congress Party’s unending electoral reverses amply manifest this phenomenon.

In spite of the best efforts made by the strong Left-Islamist ecosystem to prop him up, Rahul is not able to leave behind his goof-up spree and utterly failed in breathing a new life in his family-owned property called Congress Party.

After Obama’s comments hit the headlines, Congress leaders are in a damage control mode. They say that they don’t need certificates from any foreign leader. Perhaps they might have forgotten the fact that their party is actually led by a person of Italian origin. And moreover, the Party frequently gloats over any critical articles or commentary published against Prime Minister Modi in foreign publications such as Time magazine or The New York Times newspaper.

The Congress leaders, who toil a lot day in day out to defend the dynasty, must realize the fact that this is a time for introspection for all of them if they don’t want to see their party going extinct.
