Pakistani police said a case has been registered against Ahmadis for celebrating Muslim festivals and they have been arrested. Under the law, Ahmadis can neither present themselves as Muslims nor celebrate their festivals, he said.

Pakistani police on Sunday arrested three members of the minority Ahmadi community for killing animals at their home in Punjab province on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha. According to a Pakistani constitutional amendment in 1974, Ahmadis were declared non-Muslims and Section 298C of the Pakistan Penal Code prohibits the community from performing any Islamic ritual. According to the FIR, the complainant saw five people from the Ahmadi community sacrificing a goat and a cow at their house in Faisalabad to celebrate Eid on Sunday, police said. Police said the five Ahmadis have hurt the sentiments of Muslims by celebrating Eid-ul-Azha and sacrificing animals on the occasion.

Police said – Ahmadis cannot celebrate the festival of Muslims,

a senior police officer Tasawar Ramzan said that acting swiftly on the complaint, we have arrested three of the five suspects named in the FIR. He said Ahmadis have been booked and arrested for celebrating Muslim festivals. Under the law, Ahmadis can neither present themselves as Muslims nor celebrate their festivals, he said.

Not only the killing of Ahmadiyyas, there is also an allegation of blasphemy,

hundreds of Ahmadiyya Muslims are murdered every year in Pakistan because the fundamentalists think that they are infidels. A study published by the Institute of Development Studies in November 2020 reported that between 1984 and 2019, 265 Ahmadis were killed and 393 were attacked in Pakistan. There were 70 cases of Ahmadis refusing to be buried in the common cemetery during this period. In 39 incidents, the bodies of buried Ahmadis were removed from the grave.

Pakistan also persecutes Ahmadis legally

Minority Ahmadi Muslims in Pakistan are also persecuted through law. Between 1984 and 2019, 765 cases were registered against Ahmadi Muslims in Pakistan on religious grounds. Most of these cases were related to the display of Kalma. In 38 cases, Ahmadi Muslims were put behind bars for azaan. 453 were arrested for disguising themselves as Muslims. 161 was caught for using Islamic adjectives. In addition, 315 Ahmadis were charged under the blasphemy law.
