A group of Muslims attempted to forcibly enter the Trimbakeshwar Mandir and set a Chadar atop the Shivling, but security guards stopped them. The Brahmin Mahasabha has asked the police to conduct a comprehensive inquiry. It is important to note that the Trimbakeshwar Mandir, a Jyotirlinga is a sacred Hindu pilgrimage site and is of utmost importance. The administrative officer of the Shri Trimbakeshwar Devasthan Trust sent a letter to the Trimbakeshwar police inspector, detailing an incident that occurred on May 13.&@6#-

 

The incident increased tensions but fast action by the police and the temple administration helped to defuse it. In addition, legal action against the Muslim organisation responsible for the incident has been demanded. The Brahmin Mahasangh announced that if the police did not act appropriately within a fair amount of time, protests will be held. It needs to be noted that the temple has a tradition of allowing only Hindus to get into the temple.
