The YSRCP MP, Ramakrishna Raju who had flagged against massive conversion drives by evangelist mafia in Andhra, has been slapped with Sedition chares, arrested and brutally tortured in custody by the CID under the Christian missionary friendly Jaganmohan Reddy government.

The India Today reported that he was arrested on 14th May, his birthday, under Sedition and various other sections of the IPC. Notably, he had reportedly filed a plea for cancellation of bail granted by CBI court to Jaganmohan Reddy in disproportionate assets case.

Ramakrishna Raju had some months back acknowledged large scale conversions in Andhra Pradesh due to money power and clout of Christian missionaries. He had also criticised the serial targeted attack on Hindu temples in Andhra and suspected the hands of anti-Hindu lobbies behind it. He had in February 2021 met Union Minister and submitted a memorandum to the PMO against rampant illegal conversions in Andhra by dubious evangelist organisations. In his representation he also cited how the Christian missionaries work against the interest of SC/ST welfare by asking converted people to suppress their conversions and take advantage of reservations meant for the marginalised Hindu SC/ST community.

It is quite apparent that Ramakrishna Raju has been targeted by Jaganmohan Reddy for his dissent and criticism of Jagan Reddy’s government for enabling rabid evangelist conversions in the state and allegations of corruption.

The CID made allegations against Raju for”hate speech against certain communities and promoting disaffection against the government”.

Ramakrishna Raju was beaten up by the police on his legs and physically tortured him on Friday according to a complaint letter written by him to the CID court judge. Pictures of black and blue bruises on his feet and legs clearly shows evidence of torture meted out to Raju.

The Andhra Pradesh High Court constituted a special division bench to hear the matter of custodial torture by CID resulting in grave injuries to Raju as per a report by the Organiser.

The High Court also ordered to form a committee od doctors to check the injuries suffered by the MP. While Raju’s counsels are seeking a CBI and NIA enquiry on the conspiracy to frame cases and torture the MP. The counsels are also going to write to the Lok Sabha Speaker to bring the matter to his notice.

Surprisingly, instead of throwing out the trumped up charges against Raju and taking the CID to task, the CID court only denied further police custody and sent Raju to judicial custody till May 28th.

It is hoped that the High Court immediately quashes the baseless trumped up case against Raju and orders action against the CID for malicious prosecution and custodial torture.

The media which is generally very voluble and cries against legal action on jihadi terrorists and Maoists is silent on the baseless sedition charges against Raju and his custodial torture just because he opposes Jaganmohan Reddy and criticises rampant evangelist conversions in Andhra.
