After the results of the presidential election, discussions are going on about cross voting. It is reported that in West Bengal too, a Trinamool Congress MLA had voted for National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate Draupadi Murmu. Here, TMC has also said to investigate about it. However, apart from West Bengal, reports of cross voting were also reported from many other states of the country.
After the release of the results, the BJP also targeted the TMC and said that it shows the dismay of the MLAs. BJP MLA Suvendu Adhikari tweeted, “As promised on my behalf, all 70 MLAs of Bengal BJP have voted in favor of Mrs. Draupadi Murmu ji. Whereas, one All India Trinamool Congress MLA has voted for the newly elected President and 4 TMC MLAs ensured their votes were invalidated. 71 votes were cast for Mrs. Murmu ji in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly.
TMC MP Shantanu Sen says, ‘We are looking into it. Our party leadership will definitely discuss about it and gather information. They will be analyzed in detail before coming to any conclusion. The special thing is that Murmu defeated Yashwant Sinha by getting more than 64 percent votes.
