The ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine has completed one year. The war formally began on February 24, 2022. Russian President Vladimir Putin considers it a special military operation against Ukraine.

Western countries are fiercely opposing the Russian attack. America and many other countries of the West have imposed various types of sanctions on Russia, and this process is still going on.

40 countries including America, Canada, Britain, Germany, Australia are helping Ukraine in fighting the war against Russia. These countries have been continuously providing military assistance to Ukraine since the start of the war. America is specifically helping Ukraine.

America gave five times as much military aid to six countries as it did to Ukraine alone.

In the year 2020, the US has given many times more military aid to Ukraine in just one year than it gave to six countries. In the year 2020, the US gave $ 284 million to Ukraine, $ 504 million to Jordan, $ 548 million to Iraq, $ 1.3 billion to Egypt, $ 2.8 billion to Afghanistan, $ 3.3 billion to Israel for military expenditure. That is, in the year 2020, America gave a total of $ 8.7 billion military assistance to these countries. At the same time, since the beginning of the war, America has given only $ 46.6 billion to Ukraine.

According to information received from the US Department of Defense, the US has given 1035 tanks and armored vehicles, 236 cannons and 20 aircraft including pilots, etc. to Ukraine for the war. See the list of a small part of the military resources given by America :

$46.6 billion for war and $3.9 billion for food and health

About 60 percent of the total money that America has given to Ukraine since the beginning of the war has been given to fight against Russia. As of January 15, 2023, the US has given Ukraine about $76 billion since the start of the war. Of this, $46.6 billion has been given only for the war. Weapons have been bought with that money, soldiers have been trained.

Apart from the military, the US has also given money to Ukraine to fix its economy and for the health and food of the citizens. But that is very little compared to military spending. In terms of financial aid, the US has given Ukraine $26.4 billion since the start of the war. At the same time, only $ 3.9 billion has been given for Humanitarian Aid, under which health care, food and refugee support would come. The figures are taken from the Ukraine Support Tracker, an initiative of the Kiel Institute for the World Economy.

Responsible for the arms-giving war – Chinese leader

About two days before the completion of one year of the war, Wang Yi, the top leader of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, reached Moscow, the capital of Russia. He had said while meeting Russian President Vladimir Putin that the countries which are giving arms to Ukraine are making the way of restoring peace difficult.

On February 21, 2023, President Putin also pointed to this and said in his speech, “I want to reiterate that the culprits and culprits of the war are those people and we are making efforts to stop it.”

Why did the war start?

The reason for the war is Ukraine’s insistence on joining Nato. Ukraine has been talking about joining Nato. Russia opposes it. The reason for this is the geographical situation of Ukraine and Russia. The two countries share a few thousand kilometers of border. Russia says that if Ukraine becomes a member of Nato, the Nato country’s military bases will be near its border, which could pose a threat to Russia.

NATO is a military alliance of many powerful countries. Earlier there were 12 countries in NATO, now there are 30 countries. The principle of Nato is that if any one country of Nato is attacked, all the Nato countries together will respond to it.
