Recording the highest single-day spike on Saturday, India’s Covid19 tally breaches an 8 lakh mark. According to the latest figures from the Health Ministry, India records the highest single-day spike with 27,114 new cases in the last 24 hours. India is now the third worst hit nation after surpassing Russia’s Covid19 tally.

According to the Union Health Ministry, there are 2,83,407 active cases in India. The country’s recovery rate has improved to 63 percent. The tally of recovered/discharged patients currently stands at 5,15,386. The recovery rates in 18 states and UTs are higher than the country’s average. 

That fatality count in India mounts to 22,213 with 519 new deaths in the last 24 hours. According to the Union Health Ministry, India’s fatality rate due to Covid19 has declined. Last month the fatality rate was 2.82 percent which has now come down to 2.72 percent. Also, India’s fatality rate is lower than that of many other countries.

One Lakh Cases in Just 4 Days.

India breaches 8 lakh mark just 4 days after crossing 7 lakh mark. The Covid19 tally in India mounted from 7 lak to 8 lakh in just four days. Since July 1, everyday more than 20,000 Covid19 cases have been reported in India. The figures continue to get bigger everyday raising an alarming situation in the country.

Most of the Covid19 cases in India are contributions from Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Delhi. Maharashtra remains the worst-hit state with 2,38,461 Covid19 cases. Tamil Nadu follows next with 1,30,261 Covid19 cases and then follows national capital Delhi with 1,09,140 cases

Due to the surge in Covid19 cases several parts of the country are re-imposing lockdown to contain the novel coronavirus. Pune and Thane in Maharashtra, Bihar, Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala and whole of UP are re-imposing Lockdown
