On 23rd of August, a BJP leader named Som Raj who went missing was found hanging from a tree in Hiranagar town of Kathua district in Jammu and Kashmir.Since Monday, Som Raj has been missing. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed by the J&K Police to examine into the situation. According to reports, a villager discovered the BJP leader’s hanging body some distance from his home and alerted the police. The body had blood stains. The body was recovered by the police, who then took it to a Sub District Hospital (SDH) in Hiranagar hospital for post-mortem.

 

 

By registering the case under Section 174 of the CrPC, the Police have opened an investigation. A thorough investigation into the killing of Som Raj has been demanded by the victim’s family and BJP officials. The body was given to the family for final rites after the post-mortem.

 

Union minister Jitendra Singh expressed condolences in a tweet and said, “Deeply saddened to hear the news of the passing away of our old colleague and senior BJP leader Shri Som Raj (Soma) in Hiranagar, District Kathua. May God rest his soul.”

 

 

An SIT headed by SDPO Border was constituted to investigate the death of a BJP leader informed Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kathua RC Kotwal. He stated “Questioning of the leaders on whom the family has leveled allegation will also be conducted, and whosoever will be found guilty will be dealt with iron hands.”
