In connection with the Phulwari Sharif case, which involves connections between the Popular Front of India, the National Investigation Agency has filed a complaint under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).
Following an order from the MHA’s counter-terrorism and counter-radicalization division asking the agency to assume control of the probe from the Bihar police on July 22, the NIA registered the case last night under various sections of the India Penal Code and the UAPA.
The Bihar police recently discovered the PFI terror module when they detained three individuals for their claimed ties to the PFI and their involvement in terrorist activities.
In the Purvi Champaran district of Bihar, the NIA searched Jamia Maria Niswa Madrasa and detained a teacher named Asghar Ali.
A retired Jharkhand police officer named Mohammad Jalaluddin and Athar Parvez was detained alongside Nuruddin Jangi on July 13 in the Patna neighbourhood of Phulwari Sharif. Nuruddin Jangi was detained in Lucknow three days later by Uttar Pradesh ATS at the request of the Bihar police.
In the Phulwari Sharif case, which names 26 people, Bihar police have so far detained 5 people. During the raids the Bihar police conducted at Phulwari Sharif, numerous questionable documents were found. One such document, “Vision 2047 India,” outlined strategies for an armed assault by Indian Muslims assisted by Islamic countries like Turkey on the Indian state. The police discovered many pamphlets which propagate extremism.

In the past arrests similar to this one were made in Nizamabad, Telangana, where PFI had set up a similar radicalization camp to enlist and train Muslims in armed conflict.
