Justice Hemant Gupta , who delivered the verdict in the Hijab Case, has said goodbye to the Supreme Court. During his farewell, he said that the job of a judge is not to please anyone. Because one of the parties will definitely be unhappy with the order of the court. He said this during the farewell ceremony given by the Supreme Court Bar Association.
Hemant Gupta said that one cannot discharge his duties as a judge by trying to please the people. This role is for others in public life. He also told about his long journey in the bar and bench during this time. He was harsh and sometimes lost his temper. Hemant Gupta admitted that he must have made many mistakes too, but it must have been completely unintentional.
How was Hemant Gupta’s journey
Justice Hemant Gupta was born in a family of legal professionals. His father retired in 1991 as the Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Justice Gupta enrolled as an advocate in 1980 and practiced in the Punjab and Haryana High Court and served as an Additional Solicitor General from 1997 to 1999.
Chief Justice of SC appointed in 2018
Gupta was appointed a judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court in July 2002. After this, he was transferred to Patna High Court in February 2016 and in October this year he was appointed Acting Chief Justice here. He was elevated as Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court in March 2017 and as Chief Justice of Supreme Court in November 2018.

At the same time, Chief Justice of India UU Lalit praised Justice Gupta’s good nature in his speech. He said that Hemant Gupta makes every work the best. He said that Justice Gupta is the great person. Any decision with him will be ready in two weeks’ time and it shows his hard work.
