Saif Ali Khan may not have received as much attention as he would have liked due to his recent string of flops, but the nawab does not hold back when commenting on nationalism and Hinduism.

In 2017, when Sonu Nigam’s azaan controversy erupted, Saif Ali Khan made bizarre statements and expressed his interest in the demise of god and a post-god awakening when discussing the necessity for religion to change with the times.

Saif Ali khan 2017 made a statement saying, “The idea of god and religion has changed and evolved over centuries. I am not an expert but I understand that at in the earlier part of the last century existentialists such as Camus, Sartre and Nietzsche talked about the death of god and a different kind of awakening. So the future of god is something I am very interested in. What do we need to create so that it will fulfill the need of the hour, because it may not be the old one anymore? With science and philosophy advancing in this century, it’s no longer the centerpiece of our life. What did Freud, or was it Nietzsche who said, ‘There is a god-shaped hole in our consciousness today.’ This is of course not for the people for whom religion is the opium of, who haven’t thought about it at all ever.”

Saif offered his opinions on nationalism, a topic that has been widely debated and that nationalism is different from Hinduism. Meanwhile, ignorant Saif forgot that those who parted ways from Hinduism divided nation not once but multiple times be it Pakistan, Afghanistan, or Bangladesh.

According to Saif Ali Khan, a Hindu who would say adaab seemed more welcoming and made you feel a little more at ease, sophisticated, and nice. Now the question arises, anyone saw the flagbearer of secularism, Saif Ali Khan says the same for Muslims? Why do Hindus need to welcome someone who intends to loot them, persecute them, and whose history is full of treachery towards the country?

Sonu Nigam’s concern about loudspeakers being utilized for religious purposes was quoted and replied to by Saif Ali Khan stating that “As a minority, you would like to make your presence felt and hopefully be accepted. If someone says that it should be extinguished, it will make some people a little uncomfortable.”
