A 25-year-old youth has been arrested by the police for vandalizing a Shiva temple in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. This temple is located near Rasalganj outpost of Bannadevi police station area. He vandalised more than half a dozen idols on 28th of August, Sunday.

Aligarh Police has confirmed the arrest. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kalanidhi Naithani said that a 25-year-old youth has been arrested late on Sunday night for destroying idols by entering a Shiva temple. He has been identified from the CCTV footage. Some reports have identified the arrested youth as Mohammad Azad. He has been sent to jail after registering a case against him under sections 452, 427, 307 and 295 of IPC.

Hindu organizations protested against this shameful incident. On getting information about the incident, BJP leader and former Mayor Shakuntala Bharti also reached the spot. He said, “Efforts are being made to spoil the atmosphere of the city by carrying out incidents of vandalism in the temple. This is the third such incident that happened recently. The idols of the temple are being vandalized as part of the conspiracy.”
