On 9th of November, on the occasion of Urdu day, a webinar was organised at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) by the Urdu Department of BHU.

But strangely, the picture of Madan Mohan Malviya ji on the poster of BHU Urdu Department got replaced by the picture of Allama Iqbal, an Islamist who was a votery of Two Nation Theory and who contributed to the creation of Pakistan.Bharat Ratna awardee Madan Mohan Malviya ji is the founder of Banaras Hindu University and in all the events organised inside BHU have a picture of Madan Mohan Malviya ji on the top as a tribute.

Even all the programs starts with singing of the Kulgeet, the university song to honour Malviya ji but reportedly, the song was also not sung in the beginning of the Urdu Day celebrations. The students of the University protested against the unfortunate incident and asked the concerned authorities to take action against the same and punish the guilty. The students demanded immediate action against the act and gave a complaint letter to Dean Vijay Bahadur Singh.

Dean of the faculty of Arts, Vijay Bahadur Singh apologized for the unfortunate incident and assured that the matter will be investigated and action will be taken. The dean had shared a tweet saying, “Urdu Department of Faculty of Arts, BHU is organizing a webinar as per the details given in the poster. Sincere apologies for the inadvertent mistake in the earlier poster that went viral on social media.
