In the summer of 1615 AD, 18 years after the Moksha of Maharana Pratap and fighting 17 major battles and winning all of them, Mewar under Amar Singh ji, son of Pratap, entered a treaty with Jehangir because four generations of men had died fighting these battles . Coffers of Mewar were empty. Samants rebelled.

Jehangir wrote to his son Khurram that seal this treaty on whatever terms the Rana decides and bring Prince Karan, Amar Singh’s son to Delhi.

The main points of the treaty between Mewar and Mughals were:-
i) Rana will meet Khurram at a place of Rana’s choosing.
ii) Rana’s son Karan will be sent to Mughal court as a representative of Mewar.
iii) The place of Mewar prince in Mughal court will be above the other Mughal princes on the right side of Jehangir.
iv)Rana of Mewar is excused from appearing in Mughal court.
v) Chittor fort will be returned to Rana, but neither can it be repaired nor fortified.
vi) Rana Amar Singh will give 1000 Mewar horsemen to Mughal Army.
vii) No demand for a Mewar girl will ever be made by Mughals, else it will be seen as an invitation to war.

Thus from the 7th century onwards to the 17th century, for 1000 years after fighting Islamic invaders, a truce was penned between Mewar and Mughals.

Jehangir treated Karan like his own son and has described his relationship with Karan in his memoirs in the fondest manner possible . I have mentioned it in detail in my upcoming book .

Does this treaty look like a victory of Mughals or Mewar ?

Why did Jehangir sign this totally one sided treaty in favour of Mewar ?

Because Islam respects, fears and even admires strength .
Islam hates the weak and crushes the weak mercilessly .

So take your pick beloved Hindus .

Strength is the only Dharma .
