A 39-year-old gym owner from Lucknow has been detained for allegedly posing as a Hindu guy to marry a woman. In addition, he is accused of attacking and raping the victim.

Chinhat police station in-charge Tej Bahadur Singh claimed that the defendant, who went by the name Faisal Ahmad, pretended to be a Hindu and posed as Atharv Singh to the woman.

He then wed her at a temple to hide his identity, and when he forcibly persuaded her to convert to her religion, she learned about it after the marriage. According to the police, the accused ran a gym inside the boundaries of the Gomti Nagar police station, where he first met the victim while she was there for fitness training.

The woman accused him of rape and having inappropriate intercourse with her, according to the police inspector. According to him, the woman was assaulted, called names, and threatened with grave repercussions if she told her family or called the police.

The Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 420 for fraud, 376 for rape, 377 for unnatural sex, 323 for intentionally causing harm, 504 for insulting, and 506 for criminal intimidation have all been utilized to book the accused.

Singh added, “Other than slapping certain IPC sections, the sections 3/5(1) of Prohibition of Unlawful Religious Conversion Act and sections 3/4/5 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986, have been invoked against the accused.”
