A video of a girl had surfaced on February 24, when Russia announced military action against Ukraine. She had appealed to the Government of India to rescue the students stuck in Ukraine. The girl is Vaishali Yadav, who is currently pursuing MBBS from Ivano Frankivsk National Medical University and also happens to be an elected Gram Pradhan from a village in UP. This Russian-Ukraine conflict seems to have jeopardised her Gram Pradhan’s seat in Uttar Pradesh. Vaishali Yadav, a resident of Terapurseli in Sandi block of Hardoi, is the daughter of former block chief Mahendra Yadav. She is pursuing MBBS at National Kharki University in Kharki City, Ukraine.

After winning the presidential election, she went back to Ukraine for her studies. However, no one in the village knew about this. Now when the matter of Vaishali being in Ukraine came to light in the war between Ukraine and Russia, the people of the village were surprised.

Reports suggest that the villagers were not aware that Yadav had returned to Ukraine after being elected as Gram Pradhan, and the information has irked them. Panchayati Raj has reportedly issued a notice to Yadav seeking an explanation why she moved back to Ukraine after getting elected as Gram Pradhan.

It is being told that the Panchayat Raj has also become strict in the matter of Vaishali leaving the village like this and living abroad. It appears that in the last year, while Yadav was in Ukraine, the work in her village continued, and some funds were utilised. There is also a plan of action against Vaishali. According to reports, notice has also been issued in the name of Vaishali in this case. It is being told that now the full details of the expenditure incurred so far in the Gram Panchayat will be investigated. Let us tell you that Vaishali Yadav was studying in Ukraine for a long time. As per a report in News18, Panchayati Raj would conduct an investigation on the funds utilised by Gram Panchayat in her absence.

In December 2021, Amar Ujala had reported ‘praising’ Vaishali for attending Gram Panchayat meetings via video calls. The report suggested Yadav wanted to develop her village Tera Pursali on the lines of villages in Ukraine. Vaishali, who had done her schooling from Hardoi district and Lucknow, has been pursuing MBBS in Ukraine for the last three years.
