Two more Christian priests in Kerala died of Covid-19 who attended the Church of South India (CSI) annual retreat meet in Munnar in gross violation of Covid protocols and guidelines.

The India Today reports that Bino Kumar, priest of Ambalakkala Parish in Thiruvananthapuram and Y Devaprasad, priest of West Mount Church, died of covid-19 on Wednesday.

Tis puts the tally to four deaths of priests who attended the annual retreat of Church of South India at Munnar till now. Around 450 priests had attended the annual meet in Munnar from April 13th to 17th against all Covid norms without observing basic norms like wearing face masks or maintaining social distance. This resulted in more than 110 of the priests getting infected with the deadly virus with several of them in serious condition.

The District Collector of Idukki had ordered an investigation on the matter by Devikulam sub-Collector. The investigation report of the Devikulam Sub-Collector on the organising of event in gross violation to Covid norms at Munnar was submitted by the District Collector to the government of Kerala for further action. The police had meanwhile filed FIRs against the organisers of the super-spreader event at Munnar and named Bishop Dharmaraj Rasalam and Church Administrative Secretary TT Praveen as the main accused.
