Talib Hussain, was detained by the police in the Sambhal area of Uttar Pradesh. Talib was seen selling chicken on a piece of paper with images of Hindu devi-devta.
The incident came to light when some individuals objected to Hussain selling chicken from his restaurant on a sheet of paper bearing images of Hindu deities. According to Sambhal Police, the complainants stated in their letter that Hussain’s deed is blasphemous and has hurt their religious sentiments. According to the PTI, Hussain attempted to use a knife to attack the police when they went to take him into custody.
Sambhal Police has stated that the matter will be investigated properly.
He has been charged under IPC Sections 153-A (promoting hostility between groups based on religion, race, place of birth, or residence), 295A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to incite religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs), and 307 (promoting enmity between groups based on religion, race, place of birth, or residence) (murder attempt).
