Somnath

The temple is one of the most ancient and historic temples located in the western part of India in South Asia, Gujarat, in the Bhumandal. It is one of the most important and important temples of Indian history and Hindus. It is still considered to be the first of the 12 Jyotirlingas of India. Located in the port of Veraval in Saurashtra region of Gujarat, this temple was built by Chandradeva himself, which is evident in the Rigveda. This temple has been a symbol of the history of the rise and fall of Hinduism. This temple has been broken and rebuilt many times in history due to its immense luxury.
The reconstruction of the present building was started by the Iron Man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel after the independence of India and was dedicated to the nation by Dr. Rajendra Prasad Ji, President of India on 1 December 1955. Somnath Temple is a world famous religious and tourist destination. There is a seven-hour sound and light show in the courtyard of the temple from seven to eight thirty in the night, in which the history of Somnath Temple is very beautifully depicted. According to folklore, it is said that Shri Krishna killed himself here. Due to this the area became even more important.

The work of arranging and operating Somnathji’s temple is under the Somnath Trust. The government has managed the income by giving land, gardens to the trust. This shrine is also famous for Shraddha, Narayana sacrifice etc. of ancestors. The special significance of Shraddha is told here in Chaitra, Bhadrapada, Kartik month. There is a large crowd of devotees here in these three months. Apart from this, there is Mahasangam of three rivers Deer, Kapila and Saraswati. This Triveni bath has special significance.

Revealed: 3-storey building under Somnath temple

An amendment through the IIT Gandhinagar and Archeology Department in 2017 revealed that a three-storey L-shaped building in the temple complex of Jyotirlinga Somnath Mahadev, a symbol of the faith of crores of people of the country, is buried under the ground.

At the Somnath Temple Trust meeting in 2017, Prime Minister Narendra Modi suggested studying archeology at Prabhas Patan and Somnath. During this suggestion, the IIT Gandhinagar and the Department of Archeology have turned the pages of history and given many mysterious information to the Somnath Trust. This report has been submitted to Somnath Trust through IIT Gandhinagar.

Somnath temple manager Vijay Chavda says that the purpose of obtaining this report was to break the history of Somnath.
In this report, a total of 4 areas of Somnath and Prabhas Patan underwent GPR investigations, including the Digvijay gate of the Somnath temple as well as the site around the Statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel from the main gate identified from the Buddhist cave. .

A 32-page report in this regard was given maps to the Somnath Trust. According to this report, in the survey of Geeta temple in Prabhas Patan of Somnath, there has been a mention of a paved building underground from the front of Geeta temple to the banks of river Deer. In addition, a concrete construction was found near the Sardar Patel statue from the Digvijay gate, which had been removed earlier.

Here, a three-story building is talked about in the ground floor, with the first floor two and a half meters, the second floor 5 meters and the third floor 7.30 meters deep.

Through the experts of IIT Gandhinagar, a large machine costing more than 5 crores was installed here, in which various machines were discovered through this machine. Metal detectors were also used and GPR probes from 2 m to 12 m were performed at these locations. The study produced the report by studying the same vibrations from which the vibrations were coming from below.

The Somnath Temple at Veraval in Gujarat was built by Chandradev himself. The glory of this temple is also mentioned in the Rigveda, Skandapuran and Mahabharata. The very magnificent Somnath temple was fragmented many times in history but attempts to erase Somnath’s existence by repeated reconstruction failed.

The Adi Jyotirlinga Somnath Mahadev Temple situated on the banks of the Arabian Sea is unique. This shrine is one of the oldest pilgrimage places in the country. According to historians, due to the rich and highly prosperous Somnath temple, this temple was broken many times by the Muslim invaders and the Portuguese. Also, it has been remade several times. The attack on this temple by Mahmud Ghaznavi is very famous in history.

In such a situation, the ancient construction found under the ground at Somnath increases the magnificence and divinity of Somnath. If mining work is done on this land portion, archaeological sites such as Lothal, Dhaulavira and Valipur can come out to the world where a new study can be done about human settlements.
