Desert Festival is a cultural carnival celebrated amid the sand dunes of the expansive Thar Desert. These dunes are located 42 kilometers from the city of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India.

How Desert Festival Is Celebrated?

The atmosphere of the Golden City of “Jaisalmer”, becomes alive with song and dance, with the artists dressed in bright colors and traditional finery, depicting the tragedies and accomplishments of the desert.

The Rajasthani folk culture is showcased through dance, music, gymnastics, camel polo, camel races, and other thrilling sports.

A showcase of desert rituals and life, camel races, and gymnastic stunts are on display at the festival. Several competitions like the longest mustache, turban tying, Tug of War, Mr. Desert, etc., are also held for the entertainment of visitors and the local public.
