Patna: Imam of a mosque ‘Noori Masjid’ was killed in a powerful explosion in a Madarasa attached to the mosque at Banka, 250 kms from Patna city. Entire building was razed to the ground due to explosion injuring six people.

SP of Banka, Arwind Kumar Gupta, who visited the site said, “the FSL team was investigating the explosion.” Assistant director of FSL, Shrestham Kumar,who collected samples from the mosque said the materials were being examined.

Bhikhu Miyan, uncle of the mosque Imam, Abdul Sattar, said his nephew was injured in the blast and while being taken to Bhagalpur Hospital, he died in a 25 kms away from Banka.

Due to lockdown ,the Madarasa located at Navroliya under town police station was non-functional for the last two months and no student was present. The mosque building and Madarasa were completely destroyed and the roof collapsed due to the impact of explosion.

Following the explosion, all male members of the residential colony escaped, police claimed.
