I wish to open this article with a big thank you to kreately.in.

Three reasons;

  1. My readers have started writing/ giving feedback to me directly.
  2. Some have offered to translate my articles in different languages and share in wider networks.
  3. Some have started sending in questions for my further research and writing.

Thank you all my readers.

Today, I am bringing up mostly that I received in my mail box.

Role of diet in our life

I received a video in my inbox which shows an (Indian) Muslim young lady, visibly disgusted, saying:

‘सारा दिन भेंसा खाते हैं और रात को गर्मी हम पर निकालते हैं।

मैं तो कहती हूँ एक गिलास दूध पियो ताकि दिमाग दंडा रहे।

मैं तो हिन्दुओं से कहती हूँ कि हमसे मंदिर में फेरे डाल लो।‘

Meaning;

‘Our men eat non- vegetarian food and behave like beasts. I say, drink milk so that your remain cool. I would tell Hindus to marry us.’

Is this video real or fake? I really don’t know and sincerely regret if it is fake. For a challenge of our modern life, what I call ‘disability to discern’, may please see my article, ‘May is Disability insurance Awareness Month (DIAM)- What about Disability to Discern?

But I have a genuine concern with the effect of what we eat and drink. I have no intension to show anyone in poor light. I respect equally all. And my message to that lady character in the video would be please don’t go by religion. More important than religion or birth is an individual’s ‘gunn- swabhav- karam’ ((mindset (Sattav, Rajas,Tamas)- innate nature- karam or occupation)). Indeed, that also concerns another issue raised by another reader about the use, misuse and abuse of a Sanskrit word ‘Shudra’. My research on that issue is in progress and I will return to that in my next article. Nevertheless, this video had triggered a thought in my head about a saying that I have been hearing all along in the past from seniors in India and here I share.

The saying goes:

 जैसा अन्न, तैसा मन,
जैसा मन, तैसी बुद्धि,
जैसी बुद्धि, तैसा विचार,
जैसा विचार , तैसा करम,
जैसा करम, तैसा फल।

Meaning:

‘As you eat, so you feel and think,

As you feel and think, so your brain operates,

As your brain operates, so your thoughts are,

As your thoughts are, so you do,

As you do, so you reap.’

I am not for veg or non- veg. That is each individual’s choice.

But our diet has an effect on our behavior, conduct and consequences in our life should be well understood by all.

I have a friend by the name Vikram Pattarkine, PhD, in Pennsylvania, USA. His career spans more than 25 years as a chemical-environmental engineer, with expertise in processes related to waste treatment, nutrient management, water quality and renewable energy.

He has personally experimented and extensively researched on the role of diet in life, both, physical and mental and now presents a very popular session on Diet Purification (Aharshuddhi).

You may know the problems of Big Weight, Big Food, Big Tobacco and so on.

You may also be aware that weight loss and diet have emerged as one of the big industry of the modern times.

The physical effects of the food are readily visible. But it’s mental effects also need be gazed.

Fun Fact:

Are we talking about Diet (Coke)?
