Once upon a time, RLD had a strong base in Western Uttar Pradesh. But, it does not seem to be the same that Charan Singh enjoyed. In fact, even Ajit Singh had a better base. Jayant Chaudhary is trying to keep the flock together.

He is trying to get back its base due to its support to the farmers’ struggle. Whereas, on the other hand the BJP seems to be successful in trying to convey and wean away the support base of RLD by saying that Jayant Chaudhry will be relegated to the background once Azam Khan comes out of jail. In fact, Amit Shah’s speeches shows that the BJP is well aware that the Jaats are apprehensive about RLD and the party doesn’t seem to have the same clout that RLD enjoyed once.

The ground report by several surveys and agencies too show semblance with the fact that this elections the sway and clout that RLD has contracted immensely now. Even many high-profile Jaat campaigners have come out in the open outpouring their support for Yogi Adityanath and BJP.
