While many of India’s leftist intelligentsia and Islamists are rejoicing over attack on Israel by the Palestinian terror group Hamas, it has claimed an Indian life of a caregiver from Kerala.
According to Asianet News report, Soumya Santosh, a 31-year old caregiver hailing from Idukki in Kerala was killed in a rocket attack by Hamas terrorists from Gaza. She reportedly worked as a nurse for an old woman in the southern Israeli coastal city of Ashkelon. The old lady, who was nursed by Soumya also died in the incident.
When the rocket struck the apartment, Soumya was in conversation with her husband. She has been working for the past 10 ten years as a caregiver at Ashkelon. She is survived by her husband and young son in Kerala.
V. Muraleedharan, India’s MoS for External Affairs has condemned the incident and expressed his condolences to Soumya Santosh’s family. He has assured all possible assistance to the family. He said in a tweet, “We have condemned these attacks and the violence in Jerusalem, and urged restraint by both sides.”
More than 300 rockets have been fired at Israel from Gaza Strip by Islamist terrorist groups targeting Israel’s civilian areas since Monday. Israel’s highly efficient Iron Dome air defence system has neutralized many of the rockets, still a few of them missed by the Dome ended up crashing into civilian areas killing at least 32 till now.
