In another setback to Trinamool Congress, Raju Sahani was detained by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday in connection with a chit fund scam. Sahani’s home was raided, and the CBI seized Rs 80 lakh in cash. According to reports, the CBI tracked accounts in foreign banks and found records for properties worth Rs 2.75 crore.

According to reports, Raju Sahani was detained in connection with an investigation into a Ponzi scam. From his house, a shotgun with live ammunition was also found. Sahani and others are accused by the CBI of stealing money from a company called Sanmarg Welfare Organization, according to the CBI.
Incidentally, Sahani was detained on the same day that Abhishek Banerjee, nephew of West Bengal’s Chief Minister, and TMC leader, was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate for seven hours on an alleged coal theft scam. The national general secretary of the Trinamool Congress and a representative from Diamond Harbour in the Lok Sabha is Abhishek Banerjee.
After Partha Chatterjee and Anubrata Mondal were taken into custody by the CBI and Enforcement Directorate, respectively, the TMC is already facing criticism. A PMLA special court denied Partha Chatterjee bail on August 31 and sentenced him to judicial detention for 14 days. The 14-day judicial detention of Chatterjee’s partner, Arpita Mukherjee, was also extended by the PMLA court.

Judge Jibon Kumar Sadhu granted the pair’s judicial custody until September 14 in response to a request from the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which is investigating the alleged money trail in the School Service Commission appointments controversy.
