Sanjay Raut time and again comes up with statements which astonishes the people. Yet again he came up with similar statement in order defend the decision of the Uddhav Thackeray’s Government.

On Friday Shivsena MP Sanjay Raut defended the Maharashtra government’s decision to allow the sale of wine at supermarkets and kirana stores by claiming that “wine is not liquor”. Sanjay Raut said “Wine is not liquor. If wine sale increases, farmers will get benefit from it.We’ve done this to double farmers’ income.BJP only opposes but does nothing for farmers”.

Maharashtra government’s decision to allow the sell of wines in the supermarket and walk in stores is being heavily criticised by the opposition. Former Chief Minister of Maharashtra criticised the present government by saying “I want to ask, in whose interest was this decision taken?… This is not a decision made in the interest of farmers. Some new people have started liquor factories or liquor agencies. You find out who they are. And the decision has been taken for the benefit of such people,”. He further added “Not just this, who has met a famous wine manufacturer and where it happened. Did it happen abroad, we want to ask these questions. This is not a decision that was simply taken, there is an economic reason for this decision. This is an economic decision. We condemn this government’s dream of converting Maharastra into a liquor state. We need to understand the deal which has taken place, to find out why the decision has been taken to convert Maharashtra into ‘Madhya Rashtra’.”
