Another case of Love Jihad has come to light in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh where a Hindu woman has filed a case of assault and duping her into marriage by a Muslim man named Shahenshah Khan by posing as a Hindu Brahmin. A case has been filed by UP Police under the relevant sections of anti-conversion laws.

A 22 year old Hindu woman named Sita fell in love with Shahenshah during her phone conversations with him, when he wooed her posing as a Brahmin. They eventually got married three months ago. When she went to stay with her husband after marriage, she realised that he was a Muslim and not a Hindu as he claimed. When she protested against him, she was physically assaulted and drugged. She was raped by her Muslim husband when she was unconscious. The woman also stated that she was kept drugged with heavy doses for several days by her in-laws and her husband and repeatedly assaulted. The woman has filed complaint against her Muslim husband at Visheshwarganj police station.

Additional SP Kunwar Gyanendra Singh stated that investigations are underway and the Muslim husband and his family are being questioned in the matter. The police also said that the couple used to have frequent fights and had even taken the matter to the police several times, the police would reconcile them and send them back home. But on Tuesday, the woman approached them with serious allegations against her Muslim husband.

The ASP said that prima facie the case appears to attract the provisions under Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Ordinance and stated that further investigations are being carried out in the matter.
