1. Dr. Albert Schweitzer developed type 2 diabetes at the age of 75 years, in 1950 A.D. He was cured of it completely within six weeks and went on to receive the Nobel Peace Prize in 1952 A.D. for his philosophy of ‘Reverence for Life’. He lived past 90 years.
2. His wife Helene had Tuberculosis (TB) when she was 63, somewhere in 1929 A.D., and was cured of it when there were no antibiotics to treat it and in most cases, people with TB had to die. She lived for another 28 years after that.
3. Their 19-years old daughter Rhena was cured of serious skin disease.
4. Charlotte Gerson was cured of an advanced stage TB when she was only 12 years old at a time when over a million people had lost their lives in Europe to only TB. She lived till the age of 96.
5. Professor of Medicine Yoshihiko Hoshino at the Fukushima Medical College on the island of Hokkaido in Japan learned that he had developed colon and liver cancer in 1992. He was completely cured of his cancer and wrote a book in 1998, introducing Gerson Therapy to Japan for the first time.
6. Siri Amerjeet Kaur from Arizona in the USA found out she had breast cancer in 1997 and in less than a year’s time, she was cancer-free and she was living a healthy life when I last communicated with her in 2014.

Q. What is common between all these cases?
A: They all used Gerson therapy.

There are countless people with cancer over the period of the last 60 to 70 years who have survived using the same therapy that the above people used.
Gerson Therapy was initiated by Dr. Max Gerson in 1934 and has kindled hopes in people with this deadly disease. He was a German doctor and initially he tried this for his severe migraine headaches.

Once he found that it worked on his migraine, he continued doing more research. Accidently, once one of his patients got cured of skin TB using this therapy. Then, he tried it on people with lung TB as well as other ailments and found success in many cases.

Dr. Gerson established a special skin tuberculosis treatment program at the Munich University Hospital. In a carefully monitored clinical trial, 446 out of 450 skin tuberculosis patients treated with the Gerson diet recovered completely.
After moving to the USA, while practicing in New York, for about twenty years, he treated hundreds of cancer patients who had been given up to die after all conventional treatments had failed. Albert Schweitzer had even called him “the most eminent genius in medical history.”

He passed away in 1959. But his legacy lives on.

His daughter Charlotte Gerson established a Gerson Therapy clinic in Mexico, close to the US border, and carried on this legacy tirelessly for 55 years of one of the most powerful treatments in the medical history for advanced diseases till she passed away at the age of 96 in 2019.

This treatment is neither approved by FDA in the USA nor by Health Canada in Canada, obviously due to powerful lobbying by the Pharmaceutical and Medical Associations, so they only have a consulting office in San Diego in the USA. However, just a few kilometers down south in Mexico, the clinic is helping people with Cancer and other non-malignant but serious medical conditions.

For cancer patients, the therapy is simple, though requires a huge commitment.


Gerson patients juice all day, every day. An average Gerson cancer patient drinks up to 13 glasses, one glass every hour, of fresh organic raw juices daily—the equivalent of 15 pounds (that is almost 7 kg of vegetables and fruits) of produce in liquid form! Can you imagine eating 7 kg of raw vegetables and fruits in a day? Obviously, it is not possible.

However, by removing all the bulk from them, it becomes almost watery and becomes easy to optimally digest and absorb quickly and, in the process, flooding the body with dense nutrition. This juice retains the maximum amount of nutrients and enzymes which is the need in conditions like cancer. Since not every juicer has the mechanical capability to accomplish this task, this therapy requires a very specific type of juicer.

The juice has to be extracted using a slow-speed masticating juicer, using only organic vegetables and fruits. The normal juicers are centrifugal and have a very high speed of about 3000 Revolutions Per Minute (RPM) or so, and these juicers destroy the live enzymes present in the vegetable and fruits. The enzymes present in these natural foods are very heat sensitive and tend to get oxidized in the normal centrifugal juicers thus destroying the enzymes and that is the key.

The slow-speed juicers have very low RPM of about 80-125 or so, and there is neither any heat built up nor allow oxidation of the enzymes in the juice due to the mastication effect and they extract almost 85-90 % of the juices.

How Masticating Juicers Work?

As the adjective “masticating” suggests, these types of juicers chew and grind vegetables and fruits into a pulp through a slow, mechanical process. (Indians who lived in India would readily understand this juicer as it is similar to the Sugarcane juice extractor we find on the roadside in India)

The heart of a masticating juicer is the auger that pushes the produce forward while tearing and meshing it into a paste and then pushing it through a fine-screen stainless steel strainer to separate the juice from the pulp. The end product is denser, pulpier, and contains more fiber than juice gained from a centrifugal juicer.

The slow, rotating motion of the auger effectively breaks down the fibrous cell walls of vegetables and fruits, while protecting their nutrient content. A good masticating juicer can juice wheatgrass and other leafy greens too.
While juice prepared with a centrifugal juicer such as the Breville models (Breville Juice Fountain) is still a delicious and vitamin-rich drink compared to bottled, conserved fruit drinks, the high-speed extraction will get more oxygen into the juice resulting in the oxidation of vitamins and enzymes thus accelerating the degradation process of the juice.

Enzymes and other nutrients start deteriorating once they are exposed to oxygen. Think of an apple with a bite taken out of it. Once the inside is exposed to air, the apple starts to turn brown. The masticating juicer slows down the oxidation process preserving the important enzymes and nutrients found in the food. This gives the juice a more natural taste and a higher nutritional value overall.

Juicers for Cancer Treatment

The Gerson Therapy for cancer requires a two-step process, with a grinder and a hydraulic press.
This type of juicer has two separate components. The first component is a grinder, which grinds the vegetable into a fine, moist pulp. The second is a hydraulic press, which extracts the juice of the vegetable from the pulp by pressing it under high pressure. Dr. Gerson found that grinding the produce before pressing was essential. The pulp of the different fruits and vegetables should be mixed and pressed together, because, for example, the malic acid contained in the apples allows the other vegetables to release more minerals.

During the process of grinding and pressing in the above type of juicer, the produce is not subjected to heat or electricity, so the fresh, healing enzymes in the raw fruits and vegetables are preserved in the juices.
According to Gerson Therapy Clinic, these are the most efficient juicers for the treatment of Cancer, and best suited for providing the optimal nutrition for the therapy. Research in this area, although limited, indicates that juice produced by the grinder/press can be as much as 50 times higher in certain essential nutrients, and will produce 25 to 50% more quantity of juice than other juicers from the same amount of raw produce.

They recommend two juicers, both cold press, that fit these criteria, and are appropriate for use for the Gerson Therapy for cancer; one is the Pure Juicer, and the other one is the Champion juicer with a separate hydraulic juice press.

Juicers for Treating Non-Malignant Conditions

For patients doing the Gerson Therapy for non-malignant conditions, or healthy people juicing to enhance their health, it is not as strictly necessary to use a two-step juicer, though it is still recommended.
Masticating juicers (slow-speed) are acceptable alternatives for non-cancer patients doing the Gerson Therapy, as they extract a sufficient amount of juice, and preserve enzyme activity.
There are many brands of masticating and twin-gear juicers out there.
A few that their patients have used which are suitable for the Gerson Therapy for non-malignant conditions include:

• The Champion
• Angel Juicer
• Green Star
• Green Power
• Solo Star
• Hurom Slow Juicer
• Omega Juicers (masticating models only)

Centrifugal juicers are wholly incompatible with Gerson Therapy. Though they are often the most popular and least expensive juicers on the market, they do not recommend using a centrifugal juicer for any condition. Dr. Gerson found in his many years of clinical experience that patients who used centrifugal juicers did not have success with the therapy. Centrifugal juicers are problematic for several reasons. The centrifugal force throws the pulp against a basket screen through which the juice is strained, while the pulp remains.

Dr. Gerson said of centrifugal juicers;
“When the grinding wheel rotates against resistance with insufficient access to air, positive electricity is produced and induces negative electricity on the surrounding wall. The exchange of positive and negative ions kills the oxidizing enzymes and renders the juice deficient.”

Centrifugal juicers expose the juice to heat and oxygen killing off the essential healing enzymes in the juice. These juicers have difficulty in juicing leafy greens as is required for the Gerson Therapy green juice. Without the pressing action to extract the juice, many minerals and phytochemicals remain in the pulp, so the juice rendered is less rich in healing nutrients than juice from a grinder/press or masticating juicers.

Centrifugal force is less effective in extracting juice than the pressing action of other juicers, meaning that more produce is required to make less juice. When a patient is making 13 juices per day, this alone is a major consideration. An inefficient juicer may be cheaper in the short term but will be more expensive in the long run, as it necessitates spending more money on produce.

The core of Gerson Therapy

At the core of the therapy is its diet, which includes dining on organically grown fresh fruits and vegetables and drinking thirteen glasses of freshly squeezed juices daily, taken at hourly intervals. The emphasis on organic fresh fruits and vegetables means the patient receives elevated levels of minerals, enzymes, beta carotene, Vitamin C, and other anti-oxidants that scavenge free radicals.

The three main components of the therapy are;

1. Intensive menu plan of nourishment to flood the body with healing nutrients naturally present in the best quality of organically grown fruits and veggies.
2. Providing the means for the body’s detoxification of wastes and metabolic poisons (enzyme inhibitors) that interfere with healing and normal metabolism. This involves therapy of 5-times per day Coffee Enema to detoxify the liver. Ingesting thirteen glasses of juice provides dense nutrition and to metabolize this massive nutrition intake liver needs to be cleared off of all the toxins.
3. Supplementation of the diet with just a few specific nutrients.

USA Lobby Killed Gerson Therapy

During a three-day period, July 1-3, 1946, the US Senate took testimony from nationally known cancer researchers relating to US senate bill 1875m also referred to as the Pepper-Neely Anti-Cancer Proposal. In this bill, senators Pepper and Neely recommended the allocation of US $ 100 million from the US Government’s budget for cancer researchers to find a cure for cancer once and for all.

The senate invited, among others, Dr. Max Gerson to demonstrate his therapeutic approach to curing cancer. Dr. Gerson brought five of his cured patients and records of five more for presentation.

The testimony was impressive and it prompted the senators to call a press conference for bringing the information before the media.
However, a massive number of lobbyists for the immensely powerful Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association, American Medical Association, and American Cancer Society prevailed on reporters to ignore the Gerson conference and attend a cocktail party instead where free food was to be served and libations would be flowing.

The only reporter who preferred to attend the conference was ABC newscaster Raymond Gram Swing.
After witnessing the 5 patients cured of their cancer and also listening to the other 5 presentations, he was convinced that Gerson therapy needed to be tried because it showed huge promise and did not need that 100-million-dollar fund as his therapy was already tried and tested on many patients.

His broadcast on ABC was well received by the American public. However, the all-too-powerful lobby of the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association did not like it. They threatened to cancel all advertisement contracts for their Over-the-Counter drugs that could result in an annual loss in revenue amounting to tens of millions of dollars.

So, within two weeks of that fateful broadcast which apprised people of a potential cure for cancer, after thirty years at the same job, Raymond was fired.

The Senate’s 227-page Pepper-Neely anti-cancer bill of 1946-Document no. 8947, was defeated by four senators, who all were medical doctors, and that bill is stored in boxes gathering dust in the archives of the US Government Printing Office.
