A Pakistani national was captured by the Border Security Force (BSF) on Saturday, 16th of July at the Hindumalkot border outpost in the Rajasthani district of Sri Ganga Nagar. According to reports, the Pakistani national crossed the border in order to kill former BJP national spokesperson Nupur Sharma. Rizwan Ashraf, a 24-year-old Pakistani national who resides in Mandi Bahauddin in Pakistan’s Punjab region, was named as the suspect.
A senior Border Security Force (BSF) official claims that the person was detained on July 16 at about 11 PM at the Hindumalkot border checkpoint. He was apprehended and frisked immediately when a patrolling squad spotted him in a suspicious state. He is currently being questioned by an IB, RAW, and military intelligence team. The security forces said that among his things were an 11-inch long knife, religious materials, clothes, food, and sand. In addition, the detained suspect said that he crossed the border to kill Nupur Sharma as a result of her criticism of the Prophet Muhammad during the preliminary investigation. Prior to killing Nupur Sharma, he intended to visit the Ajmer Dargah.
The BSF official stated “We have handed him over to local police for further investigation. He was produced before a magistrate from where he was sent to eight days of police custody. We have informed the concerned intelligence agencies about him,” .
