Paraphrasing George Orwell,

In a world of liars

Telling the truth is a revolutionary act.

Arnab said the Shaheen Bagh narrative was a lie

Arnab said Palghar sadhus were lynched because of a lie

Arnab said Sushant Singh Rajput died because Bollywood was a lie

Arnab said the Hathras event was a lie

In a world of liars

Arnab was the revolutionary

Arnab was also vox populi

The voice of the people

And vox populi said Arnab spoke the truth.

Very very loudly.

But all the King’s horses and all the King’s men

Couldn’t believe that Arnab was the voice of the people.

All the King’s horses and all the King’s men

Couldn’t believe that the rumble they heard

Like a JCB excavator destroying a Bandra building

Was not his irritating incessant voice

But the sound of the crumbling edifice they stood on.

They could not understand that in their edifice of lies each truth was a loosening brick.

And each loosening brick was not a bot from a PR company. It was a voice.

They could not understand that even if they killed Arnab they would not silence Arnab. Because Arnab was the voice of the people.

All the King’s horses and all the King’s men could not understand that truth was catching on. Like a spark in the cold embers of suppressed history.

And it was a fire they would not be able to put out.

Vox populi vox dei.

Google it.
