Sound engineering has marvelously changed since the acoustic age to the present digital age. Sensors are helping our life at every step. Thanks to incredible technologies and gadgets emerging every day.

Human have been blessed with five sensory organs, namely, ear, eyes, nose, tongue and skin, capable of having five senses, namely, hearing, seeing, smelling, taste and touch. Some are considered blessed with the Sixth also, an Extra Super Perception (ESP).

An interesting challenge I was recently given was: How would you classify, ‘the sense that I am talking nonsense’? I said that is the matter of intellect. Our body not only has 5 sense organs, it has five action organs, and mind, intellect, ego, and soul.

Anyways, today I have a mundane question in this digital age. Can God’s voice be recorded?

This presumes that God speaks. So, the question: Does God speak?

We have heard many a times that God spoke to (a human), invariably known as Messenger or Blessed.

Interestingly, I came across a discussion on https://www.rgj.com on ‘Does God speak to humans directly? I loved to reproduce.

The  discussion had opened with an anecdote that reads as follows:

“According to an Associated Press story, Philippines President Rodrigo Roa Duterte recently said while flying home he was looking at the sky while everyone was sound asleep, and he heard a voice that said, “If you don’t stop epithets, I will bring this plane down now.”

“And I said, ‘Who is this?’ So, of course, ‘it’s God,’’’ said Duterte.

Duterte, who is Roman Catholic, says he has promised to God he won’t spew expletives again.”

This almost sounded like the story of that atheist who started reading in his old age  ‘God is Now here’, in place of ‘God is Nowhere’.

The discussion had further added, “A Gallup 1999 analysis reportedly said 23 percent of all Americans have heard a voice or seen a vision.”

YES … GOD SPEAKS!

“Yes … God speaks directly to humans. Over 2,000 times in the Old Testament there are phrases such as, “And God spoke to Moses” or “the word of the Lord came to Jonah” or “God said.”  We see an example of this in Jeremiah 1:9. “The LORD reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, ‘Now I have put my words in your mouth.'” Jeremiah claims to speak specific words God had put into his mouth.

During the birth of Jesus, God spoke to Mary through an angel; he spoke to Joseph through a dream; he spoke to the shepherds through an angel and he spoke to the Magi through a dream. Yes, God speaks!

But now that the Scriptures are complete, any word from God must be corroborated by the Bible. God’s Word is the plumb-line against which all new revelation is measured.” Steve Bond, lead pastor, Summit Christian Church, Sparks

“Yes. Our God is a relational God, and one of His chief desires is to grow His relationship with humanity through regular communication. Throughout human history, God has initiated communication with humanity by speaking audibly to humans. He also speaks to us through the glory of His creation. Additionally, He speaks to us through His Holy Spirit and through dreams, visions and our thoughts. Further, God will use events and circumstances to speak with us. More often than not, God uses the people He has placed in our lives to speak to us. Over the years, those who have heard His voice have recorded what He has had to say in His written word, the Bible. GOD’S REALITY — DIRECT COMMUNICATION INACCESSIBLE

 “There is certainly spiritual inspiration, but the source depends on our perspective. Baha’u’llah taught there can be no direct relationship between God, the unknowable ultimate reality and human beings. Direct communication would imply equity. The purpose of the manifestations of God, those originators of the world’s great religions, is to mediate and make God’s will known to us. Our own transcendent connection is through prayers and readings revealed by God’s messengers, in language imbued with special potency. The Baha’i writings express that while in the state of prayer, and careful meditation after, inspiration may be offered. “The wealth of the other world is nearness to God. Consequently, it is certain that those who are near the Divine Court are allowed to intercede, and this intercession is approved by God.” We must therefore be open, but carefully discern the source to remove our own desires or inclinations.” Justin V. STREET WISDOM

I shared all this with a village elder. First he loudly laughed and then said:

“Which God are they talking about? ‘Nirgun Nirakar’ or ‘Sagun Sakar’? ‘Nirgun Nirakar’ has no form. ‘Sagun Sakar’ has a form. Indeed, all those Bhagwan, Messengers, Masseih, Scriptures, Holy Books are ‘Sagun Sakar’. If human would have stopped with ‘Nirgun Nirakar’, there would have been no sects, no fights. But sects help to create human identity. It helps to fulfil their ego needs. I am better than you. Mine is better than yours.

All Sagun Sakar are human and therefore end. Now, someone may argue, no, no, my Bhagwan, Messenger, Masseih is ever alive. That is called ‘yasha sharira’ (living, actually being remembered for his/ her good deeds). That is your reverence. That is your faith and liking. Your own need.

Now coming to directly speaking to humans, Nirgun is present in everything, every form, the entire creation; animate, inanimate; in every ‘Sthool Sharir’ (gross body), ‘Adhyatmik Shrir’ (thought body) and ‘Adhidevik or Kaaran Sharir’ (cause body). All five senses; seeing, hearing, smelling, touch and taste are part of ‘Sthool Sharir’. So, any of us, when we see, hear (talk), smell, feel touch or taste are actually His as we are His creation. Your thoughts, your vision, your dreams are with this body. Last thing, in most cases, it is the followers more interested in creating, and create, that identity. How come the God of English speaking speaks English; Hindi speaking speaks Hindi; Arabic Speaking speaks  Arabic and for that matter others’ in their language. Phenomenon is one and the same, languages are different of the believers/ followers. Indeed, realized souls never differentiate. He is One. All are One. He is You and You are He, ever. Who is speaking to whom?

He creates/ treats everyone equal and provides full freedom and choice of thoughts and actions. Now it is your thoughts and actions; good, bad, ugly, in this relative world. Nirgun Nirakar is above and beyond human sense of seeing, hearing, talking, touch and taste. It is a matter of the intellect.

I said, Oh, so, he does not speak to humans?

He said, “He doesn’t speak to humans the way humans speak to each other. He speaks through human intellect, thoughts and actions.”

So, with all the advancement of sound engineering, it doesn’t seem possible to record God’s voice. After all, he doesn’t speak like humans do.
